2004-2005 CSSA Working Plan and Member Recruiting
 

Hi All:

I am honored and humbled to become the new President of NU-CSSA. I thank former President Shuming for his service to our community. And I thank all members of 2003-2004 CSSA for their contribution.

With the beginning of 2004-2005 CSSA, we're facing new challenges and we're shooting for below goals:

  • To best serve our community and speak for our people
  • To further develop CSSA to be an influential international student group
  • To promote the exchange between Chinese culture and other cultures

To achieve these goals, we need the support of the whole community. And as a volunteer association, your participation and feedback are the impetus and the best reward to us.

As a first step, we need an active, efficient and passionate CSSA committee. We've got some people who're interested in joining the CSSA committee, while we need more people to join us. And now we have below positions open to the public.

Treasury Department

Managing CSSA funding and financial recording

Efficiently giving different department financial support

Public Relation Department

Strengthening the bridge among CSSA, Northwestern officials and outside groups

Contacting companies and enterprises for fund raising

Propagating CSSA's influence throughout Northwestern campus and the big Chicago area

Sports Department

Planning and organizing all the events related to sports activities, such as soccer, pingpong tournament, badminton playing and etc

Entertainment Department:

Planning and organizing dance party, Kara OK party, movie nights, CD/VCD/books library and etc

Information Department

Managing CSSA mailinglist, website, BBS forum, alumni database and servers

Managing CSSA events reporting and recording system

Surveying and managing feedback from the community

Strengthening the communication bridge between CSSA and the whole community

Social Department Contacting and cooperating with other groups / associations for various events, such as job fares, festival parties, BBQ, picnics, seminars and etc
Outing department Organizing outing events like Wisconsin boat tour, ski trip, cherry picking tour and etc.
Note that the functions of each department we list above are just some typical and traditional examples. We're seeking to expand the functionality of each department. And we welcome any new idea to enrich our knowledge and to better serve our community.

What can you get from being a member of CSSA?

  • Getting chance to get to know various people, from Northwestern students, professors, to people from other universities, to graduate school managers, to employers from companies and many more
  • Having more chances to participating various activities to enrich your life
  • Developing your personal social ability and leadership
  • Practicing what you learned, for example accounting, IT skills, oral English and so on.
  • Turning your idea into true by designing and organizing various activities
  • Being honored and receiving reward from CSSA, the biggest students & scholars group in Northwestern, based on your contribution. We'll periodically evaluate, recognize and reward active CSSA members.
