2003 CSSA Logo Design Competition

The CSSA is pleased to announce the CSSA Logo Design Competition. The winning design will become the official visual representation for CSSA at northwestern, and the winner of the competition will be awarded a $100 cash prize as well as being recorded and introduced in CSSA website, newspaper, magazine and other CSSA media. The top 10 designs will be displayed on CSSA website and introduced in other CSSA media.

PURPOSE:
To design an image that signifies CSSA, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at northwestern University. The event is administered by the CSSA committee.

CRITERIA:
The logo will be a design that embodies the Chinese Students and Scholars Association at northwestern University. The design must be adaptable for any and all appropriate uses including posters, souvenirs, program covers, billboards and advertisements. The artwork submitted should reflect the elements that are present at CSSA. Components include everything from Chinese culture, Northwestern, Chinese community... Any of these components may be included in the design, however the primary element of the design must be the title: CSSA.

Judging will be based on originality, effectiveness of design, neatness of presentation, balance of lettering and design, appeal and adherence to the rules.

All people

SUBMISSIONS:
Both hard copy and digital format are acceptable:
1) Digital format: there is no limit to the format and color you can use in your design, however the design must be fully effective in black and white or include a black and white version (to be used in newspaper, magazine or other situation). Digital format design should be submitted through email with a completed competition entry form.

2) Hard copy must be on a vertical poster no larger than 11''x 17'' To submit a hardcopy, please send email to binlin@cs.northwestern.edu to discuss submission detail.

3) Entry form (digital format or paper format) must be complete and signed and delivered with artwork.

4) There is no limit to how many designs an individual may submit.

5) Submission deadline is October 5, 2003 12:00pm (CST).

ARTISTS RESPONSIBILITY:
The winning artist will be required to do all artwork and bear any expenses related to creating the image. The winning design will be reproduced. No corporate or personal logos can be incorporated within artwork. The CSSA will reproduce the winning image at our printer and at our cost. The CSSA committee reserves the right to reject any and all submissions.

If the image that I have submitted in the 2003 CSSA Logo Competition is selected as the winning image, the CSSA committee will own all rights connected with the image. The CSSA committee will have exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the work. I will make any design changes as needed by The CSSA committee. No changes can be made after artwork has been submitted without the consent of The CSSA committee.

If the design that I have submitted is not selected as the winning image, I give CSSA committee the right to display the image. I will retain all ownership rights of the design, subject only to this right to display.
