Introduction
Welcome to my website!
I am Zafar Rafii, Ph.D.
candidate in Electrical
Engineering & Computer Science at Northwestern University,
Chicago/Evanston IL, USA. I am was with the Interactive Audio
Lab, under the supervision of Professor Bryan Pardo.
I am now a research engineer in the Media Technology Lab at Gracenote.
My research interests are
centered on audio analysis, at the intersection of signal processing,
machine
learning, and cognitive science.
Some of the projects I have been
working on are, among others, music genre classification, adaptive user
interfaces, mono and stereo source separation, speech enhancement,
audio fingerprinting and cover identification.
Background
I received a Master in
Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Telecommunications
from Ecole Nationale
Superieure d'Electronique et de ses Applications in France
and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in
the US.
I worked as a research engineer at Audionamix (formerly known as Mist Technologies) in France for more than a year, and as a Ph.D. intern at Gracenote in the US for six months.
