Using blue for the cool color and yellow for the warm color seems more natural. This type of transition occurs in real sunlight.

Object colors change temperature in sunlit scenes because cool skylight and warm sunlight vary in relative contribution across the surface.

Blending from a warm color to a cool color and applying it to a hue results in an undertone scale.

Artists can achieve this cool to warm effect by painting in layers or by thinning their paints and using the intrinsic cool or warmth of the paint.

In our work we found that using this technique alone resulted in washed-out colors, as can be seen in the model.
